My Life

I’m Back

Hi, Friends!

I am very sorry to have disappeared on you for so long. Life can be…. difficult. As some of you may already know, I deal with depression and anxiety, as well as PTSD. Unfortunately, they have been raging badly for a while and it has messed with my daily life. I am fighting to get myself back on track. Day by day. Second by second even.

On the upside, I have been devouring books, lol. I have already passed my year’s reading challenge of 20 finished books. I finished the sixty first one last night. I have a slew of review books to post about on here for you and am working on getting those up for you. I have read some pretty good ones this year! How is your reading adventures going this year? Anything you want to shout from the rooftops about? Or maybe not that loud but at least tell me about? 🙂

I hope you have had a pleasant day. I got to spend mine with my niece, and on a rainy day with a sleepless night last night, the snuggly nap was the perfect prescription for me today. Never take moments like that for granted.

Sleep sweetly, my dear friends. I will be back with a book review soon.

Website Remodeling

Good morning, Friends

I hope you are all doing well and having a nice day. I want to let you know I am working on my website again, this time focusing on the Sweet Pea page. I am working on taking pictures of my items (books, notecards, jewelry, paintings….) to post them onto the page. Make sure to keep checking back for updates!

Happy Friday 🙂

Book Review, Books and Reading

True to You

If ever there was a story written that reminded me of myself, this is it! I do believe I have found my fictional twin! Lover of books, genealogy, vintage clothing and accessories, tea, BBC and PBS. I am still waiting for the family reunion with Nora. Let me introduce her to you.

Nora Bradford, genealogist, has known heartbreak. She buries her life in her job, which also includes maintaining a historical village. She has learned to protect her emotions the best she can and disappears into the fictional world of books and British TV shows. When John, a former Navy SEAL, comes to Nora needing assistance in finding his birth parents, he causes the kind of distraction she loves. However, as they get closer to finding out the truth behind his birth not only does she feel her heart opening up again, they also uncover family secrets neither of them were prepared for.

Becky Wade continues to be a favorite author of mine and this particular story is my #1 favorite of hers. As I mentioned already, Nora is basically my fictional twin. It was so easy for me to connect with her personality. Throw in family secrets and this was a definite winner for me. A five star book for sure!

*I received this book free from Bethany House in exchange for my honest review. What I have expressed are entirely my own thoughts and I was not compensated in any financial way.*

My Life, Where in the World....

Where in the World…. Inspiration

Good afternoon, Friends,

I hope you are staying warm and have either missed the snowstorm/ice storm or have gotten through it safely. We had a thaw on Monday, it was sunny and pretty warm for Upstate NY in January, had been for a few days, and then Monday night it started icing and by Tuesday morning we had a bunch of snow and ice. School was canceled and the roads were icky for part of the day. Today, it is fairly sunny, not snowing or icing.

The question for this week is, Where do I find inspiration? My answer…. Everywhere and anywhere! A painting in a museum or other museum artifact, a line in a song or other book, a stranger walking by me, a color, a scent, a meal. Anything is up for grabs when it comes to inspiration for me. And once I have that inspiration and it takes root it can result in anything from a book, a painting, a piece of jewelry, a notecard, or a craft for the kids.

What about you? Where do you find inspiration? And if you have any questions you would like to ask me, where in the world I…. please don’t hesitate to leave a message. 🙂

Books and Reading, My Life

Once Upon a Time

Good Evening, Friends.

Wifi is back on here and I can now catch up with my blog. Every now and then wifi cuts out and I cannot update my blog as I wish to, sorry about that. But I will post for the days I missed. Occasionally I lose the internet connection so I hope you can forgive my tardiness. Anywho, I have started a new book for review and it has yanked me in! In fact, it has not only yanked me in, it has pulled me back to 1777 Kentucke (as Kentucky was spelled back then). The wilderness, the home living, the unrest, surveying for new livable land, the variety of characters, the descriptions…. It is a beautiful story. By now you are probably wondering what book exactly I am talking about. It is Laura Frantz’s new novel, A Moonbow Night. I am looking forward to telling you more about it in my review, which I will be posting tomorrow (it is part of a blog tour which is why I am posting it early this week).

What are you reading currently? I would love to hear about it.

Happy Reading!
