Laurel Tracey, feeling overwhelmed having to run a ranch on her own, makes a decision that will change her life forever.
Squatters have settled in a pasture and refuse to leave, leaving Laurel with no choice but to use the last of her money to free a prisoner and hire him to work for her. Thomas, imprisoned for fines he could not pay, is thankful to be free but now he is indebted to this woman. He counts down the days until he has true freedom. However, cattle start dying and Laurel’s life is threatened. Thomas soon realizes he is involved more than he planned to be. Can he protect the woman he has grown to love?
I tried reading this book yet had a very hard time connecting with the characters. Nothing was capturing my attention. I unfortunately stopped reading it, not getting into the story itself or the way it was written.
*I received this book free from Zondervan and Fiction Guild in exchange for my honest thoughts. What I have expressed are entirely my own.*
